Adding Live Search to PeopleSoft Enterprise

Another entry from Rich Manalang. I haven't tried this yet, but I think it is a great idea. With everyone else on the web adding AJAX to their pages, it would be nice to keep up in PeopleSoft with the UI improvement.

True Single SignOn

Desktop Single SignOn

The guys at Grey Sparling have released a product for PeopleSoft customer in Windows who utilize Active Directory to achieve true single signon. In the past, you could only present users with a "single username" or "single password" setup (without heavy customization and overhead). The demo of the tool looked fantastic and seamless. Definitely something worth mentioning to clients with a complete Microsoft enterprise stack.

UPDATE: I received this email from Chris Heller, of Grey Sparling, about their Desktop Single SignOn product.

Hi Dan, Thanks for the nice blog entry that you wrote about our Desktop Single Signon.

It actually doesn't require an all Microsoft infrastructure. In fact, it will work just fine with Unix/Linux web servers and/or using Samba as a domain controller. It won't work natively with Mac or Unix/Linux clients though (although I have seen a Python proxy that should allow those users to get similar behaviour, but I haven't tested that).

If you're going to be at OpenWorld, let me know and I'll give you a demo of how it works.

Trying something new

or at least new for me. It seams the craze now days is to blog about what you do at work. I don't mean give away the day-to-day business, or any trade secret you may be working on, but idea, tips, and thoughts you have about what you are working on.

Case in point, the Grey Sparling blog, Oracle blogs, Microsoft blogs, etc. In fact, today I stumbled across a blog my Rich Manalang, an Oracle employee (from PeopleSoft) and he had post about some undocumented PeopleTools web server commands. One of the undocumented commands made a web server reboot I had planned unnecessary. Sweet!

So, this may just become a link blog for other posts I find. But, I will try and post tips and tricks as they come I find them.
